Ex-VVF Patients Vow To Return Jonathan

A number of women who were recently cured of the dreaded Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) or recto vaginal fistula (VVF, yesterday described President Goodluck Jonathan as God sent vowing to ensure his return at the March 28 Presidential election. The women who turned out in their large numbers were amongst beneficiaries of the Federal Government G-WIN programme, also known as Growing Girls and Women In Nigeria, G-WINN, an initiative of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngoni Okonjo -Iweala, which was officially launched by President Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The women said they are amongst the over 3515 who were successfully repaired and had their health restored in their testimony at the official launch of the programme at the Presidential Villa, Abuja Their spokesperson who spoke through an interpreter in Hausa language had amidst tears recalled how they were neglected by the same people who had married them out at a relatively early age and were later abandoned to suffer by their husbands.

They commended the President who through his intervention had their health restored after the treatments they received at the Federal government VVF centres in Katsina and Ebonyi states. “Mr. President has helped us to regain our health and we have no other way to thank him but to ensure that he is re-elected during the March 28 Presidential election so that you can continue to do the good work that you are doing” “This is the first President who took special interest in what is happening to us and we know that by the Grace of God, he will be returned come March 28” But President Jonathan while speaking during this event assured that government t will continue to encourage Nigerian women to ensure that they fly higher. “We will encourage both the young and old women in their endeavour so that Nigerian women will continue to fly higher and higher. Let me sincerely thank the Coordinating Minister for the Economy for initiating the G-WIN programme.”
