8 Nigerians want to return home – Ambassador


Nigeria’s Consul General in South Africa, Uche Ajulu-Okeke has said that eight Nigerians have indicated interest in returning home following a spate of xenophobic attacks in SA.


Ajulu-Okeke disclosed this on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, during a phone conversation with journalists.


She said further that Nigerian mission was already working with the citizens to facilitate their journey back home.


“I am working with eight Nigerians who have indicated interest to go home. They are presently at the deportation holding facility at Limbola, South Africa,” Ajulu-Okeke said.


“They narrated how they were attacked and brought pictures. We took note of all that. The mission asked all the provincial chairmen of the union to collate all information reported,” she added.

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerian politicians to prepare to make more sacrifice for the electorate and the country.


Buhari also said that the time had come to justify the confidence citizens had placed in the All Progressives Congress (APC) by voting its candidates.


The President-elect made the statements on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in Abuja, while receiving a delegation of APC members  from Kogi and Kwara states.


“I want to appeal to you to work with your colleagues across the country to ensure that we maintain and sustain this unexpected gains in the best interest of our country,” Buhari said.


“It is time to make a lot more sacrifices. You are the real foot soldiers and you have the constituencies in your hands,” he added.


“Let us make sacrifices and deliver on what we promised the people to make our jobs as members of the executive much easier. People should feel secure in Nigeria. Let us give confidence to the people who voted us in no matter who you are, you should get justice. Whatever we can do in terms of social services, healthcare and security should be done, that is all they need,” the President-elect said.

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has said Nigerians should expect change from June 1 this year, noting that his administration and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will live up to  its manifesto commitment, which he said was carefully put together.


Buhari, who is expected to be sworn in as Nigerian President on May 29, said this in an exclusive interview with TVC News, which was published on the station’s Youtube channel on April Wednesday, April 22, 2015.


The former military ruler also stated that his administration will parade technocrats and people of integrity, noting that people of questionable characters will not be allowed in APC cabinet

Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose has issued a statement in which he vowed to remain loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan and provide a strong opposition for the All Progressives Congress, APC in South West Nigeria.

It has become imperative once again to address the media on the constitutional and political crises being foisted on our dear State, Ekiti by irritants of unbridled ambitions, who are not only devoid of spirit of sportsmanship but implacable even when all odds are against them and roundly rejected by the good people of the state.

It is no longer news that I defeated an incumbent governor in all the 16 Local Government Areas in the State and that for the first time in the history of Nigeria, attempts were made to use the courts to prevent someone who clearly won a governorship election from assuming office.

Since June 21, 2014 that the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered that humiliating defeat, the party has suffered defeats in the entire local government areas in Ekiti State in four other elections, the latest being the House of Assembly election in which APC won no single seat out of the 26 seats.

Ekiti people have been persistent in their preference for me and my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to correct the ills of the last four years and set the State on the path of greatness.

Despite that Ekiti people have consistently spoken with their votes against the APC, Nigerians are witnesses to the litany of illegalities being woven by both the national leadership of the party and its Ekiti State chapter, all in an attempt to rob Ekiti people of the mandate freely given to me.

Despite receiving bloodied nose in both the political and judicial arena in the hands of the Ekiti masses as represented by me, these desperate politicians are unrelenting in their shenanigans, the latest being the information at my disposal that even after May 29, the state would not know peace.

I however trust Ekiti people to do what is right in securing peace in their land.
I have been severally informed that I became the prime demolition target of the APC national leadership because of my overt and unalloyed support for President Goodluck Jonathan during the campaigns.

Insiders in their party also told me that APC leaders were also yet to get over the fact that in the entire South-West, Ekiti was the only state they could not "rob" for General Mohammed Buhari (rtd). The eagle-eyed surveillance of Ekiti people ensured that.

I wish to declare unequivocally that I remain loyal to President Jonathan even after May 29 as my support for his re-election and administration was not about bread-and-butter. I was convinced he was moving Nigeria in the right direction, despite all the noise. I have no regrets supporting him. If same situation presents itself again, I would do it all over.

Let me state It clearly that if President Jonathan is deserted by all Nigerians today, I, Ayodele Fayose, would remain with him. I have chosen to be his last-man standing.

If for this show of loyalty to Mr President and my party, APC and its leaders believe that the best way to pay me back is to make Ekiti ungovernable, the decision on appropriate reaction belongs to the people, whose mandate I keep in trust.

It is ironic that those who said worse things about the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) when they were in opposing parties, are the ones milling around him today, using him as an electoral talisman and demonizing us for saying things of lesser magnitude during a campaign that was mainly characterized by hate-messages from both divides.

I also want to put on record that if all PDP members decamp to APC today, I will remain the last-man standing for the party, even a I have no cause to denigrate the office of the president.

I also promise APC a robust and engaging opposition both in the South-West, and nationally, with me playing a prominent role.

Let me again state that I will continue to seek peace with my traducers and troublers of Ekiti.
Since the Supreme Court judgement which held my 2006 impeachment as illegal, unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect, my preachings have been peace. This is to see if a hand of fellowship as urged by elders in the state and the nation at large would bring sanity to the opposition camp. It definitely has nothing to do with cowardice; as Ekiti is a land of the brave.

In alerting the international community on what to expect from May 29 as regards the threat by the APC to make Ekiti ungovernable, I have decided to put on notice the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU) on the imminent reign of impunity by APC as from May 29.

Since Ekiti people are certain to resist the planned plundering of their land, Nigerians and the world at large should know who to hold responsible in the event of anarchy in Ekiti State in particular and the entire Yorubaland.

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has Nyseom Wike, will be sworn in as Governor of Rivers state come May 29th if the state is still without a chief judge.

THE Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has said that the ‘Doctrine of Necessity’ will be applied to swear-in the next governor of Rivers State, if Governor Chibuike Amaechi fails to appoint an acting or substantive Chief Judge by May 29 2015.

There has not been a substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State since retirement of Justice Ichechi Nwenenda Ndu, in August, 2013.

Amaechi had brushed aside the National Judicial Council (NJC)’s recommendation of Justice Daisy Okocha and gone ahead to appoint Justice Peter Agumagu, then President of the Customary Court of Appeal, who has since been suspended by the NJC.

In another development, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission has announced that it will conduct Local Government election on May 23, 2015.

President Goodluck Jonathan has announced that he will be handing over on May 29th not May 28th as earlier announced.

Speaking after Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Jonathan, Minister of Information, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, said, ''28th May is not the date for handover. 29th May is for handover and Democracy Day. The President is still the President till 29th May till when the President-elect will take over.”

The Atrocities Committed By Nigeria's Ex-IGP Suleiman Abba


Nigeria - Following his removal by President Goodluck Jonathan, Premium Times has listed the "many sins" committed by the ex Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.

Abba was found guilty of abusing his powers by withdrawing House of Reps Speaker Aminu Tambuwal's security aides, after he defeated from the PDP to the APC.

Also on November 2, 2014, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, wrote to Mr. Abba, warning him of series of “illegal policing” being perpetrated under his watch.

The lawyer listed some of Mr. Abba’s sins to include the arrest and dentition of over 700 top APC members in Osun state barely days before the state’s gubernatorial election on August 9, 2014;

Abba also failed to call Joseph Mbu, a controversial Assistant Inspector General of Police, to order for his reckless abuse of police powers especially after a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja delivered a judgment declaring the ban on the #BringBackOurGirls campaign group illegal, null and void.

Another of his sins was to threaten Nigerians during the general elections. Shortly before the just concluded general elections, Mr. Abba openly countered a directive by the Independent National Electoral Commission that voters could wait at polling units and protect their votes.

In countering the directive, the former IGP warned the electorate to leave the polling units once they cast their votes.

A few days after his directive came under strong criticism; the former IGP made a u-turn and said he never stopped voters from waiting after casting their ballots.

Some Nigerians believe Mr. Abba was simply overzealous in order to please the presidency, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and their agents.
